When I saw this project on Pinterest, I knew I had to make it for my BOY. Although, he's not quite at the age where he'll get the most out of it, its a toy, nonetheless. He's got to love it, right!
* I used Zack's old favorite jeans (2 pairs) that I had tried to fix a few times but finally they hit their end. He was so sad to let them go. He just kept them around the house for several weeks! So, he was delighted when I told him I wanted to cut them up for this project.
* I hand sewed the pieces together so I could craft the turns and such. Then I machine sewed (its working again!) the streets to the white layer then the white layer to the bottom piece. (Do you want me to explain more?)
* Lastly I spread it out (in my small apartment I had to put a large box we happened to have on top of a low table in the middle of our kitchen so the baby wouldn't get to the wet paint) and used fabric paint for the street lines. It took almost a full 24 hours for the paint to dry. The last touch was to put a piece of cardboard in the back pocket "garage" to make it stick up so cars can easily park inside.
* Complete!
// All together this project actually took a long time. I spent approximately 30 mins cutting out the fabric, 1 hour hand sewing the fabric together into the right shape, 1 hour constructing and sewing the entire thing together, 30 mins to paint and 24 hours for the paint to dry. It was broken up into many days of work though so it was fine. I love the outcome and I can't wait for my baby to love it too!
this is so awesome! he is going to love this so much when he gets a little older. way to go!
