Grandpa Joe
When we got back from the cruise my dad was here for a business trip. I had forgotten we were going to see him so that was double the happy excitement to spend time with him. We spent Sunday talking, watching football, eating and just enjoying each others company. It was such a special short little visit. (We also acquired some awesome linens and things from my late grandmother that Barb sent with my dad for us. That was such a sweet package to open.)
I'm so sad I didn't get a picture with my dad. I was enjoying every second so much that putting a camera up to my eye was just not on my mind. Luckily Zack always is there with a camera and at least snapped this sweet moment. Odin had just woken up from his nap and went right to sit with my dad. This is when he was done sitting and was making "oh" faces while pointing out all of the sounds he heard. (There are lots of sounds in this city.) I loved seeing my baby take to my dad so well. It had been several months since he saw him last. I can't wait to see my Dad and Barb again soon!
// Some pictures and details from our cruise coming tomorrow.

do what you love
I have been so inspired by this, this and this in mind. Then after reading this post today regarding not looking at blog stats, I am deciding a few things for myself. I decided I finally understand why I continue to blog. Why do I keep a little blog in a tiny speck of internet? Read on and hopefully I can put in to words my thoughts.
It is so important to be authentic. I know this but I think that I need to think about this more and then not think at all and just do, just live, just be me. There is something so correct and comfortable as when natural beauty is made. I mean, in the outdoors, in the home, out in the world, when things aren't forced things are just better.
I am out of my element. Living in a big, very exciting and busy city, I have totally lost my ability to enjoy many aspects of my life. It is sad to me but lately I have been making huge efforts to change this and refine myself, find real, experience real, and add to the real in the world.
I would never say this in my past but I can almost say out loud that I think I am an artist. I love to create and I do. I am fine tuning my eyes each day as my hands and mind work together to create. But this still means that in my conversation and in my writing (like in this blog) I am just as naturally creative. I want to see the results more of my efforts. I want to see the natural and beautiful in things again. I want to add the what little realness there is left in this world.
The post mentioned above reminds me to think about why I blog. Why do I, you might ask? I blog because I love this way of creation and expression. I love to see and to experience the things I am going through, good and not. I love to have a place to show my creations since my home is not conducive for such displays. My blog is what I want my home to be like, in appearance, and in word and in color and in authenticity. It is an extension of me and my home. It is what is real to me. As I learn and experience, do and create, my blog showcases this to me and all who read.
I want readers, of course, merely friends to share in the goodness of my efforts and to benefit from them as well. I want real things to share with people and to find commonalities between new friends who visit my space. I want a warm and inviting and most authentic place for any to come to see goodness and realness. I want to be silly and frivilous yet every bit as grounded and open.
I blog because I need a place to be real, to see the real from my life, and to share the real. After all, we really do need more "real" in this world!
* This is not the norm for me to do such a thoughtful post. I don't expect this to be read word for word and I don't expect that it will mean the same to you as it does to me but that is just the point of the post. I am writing this blog for me. I am writing with all the reality that is current in my life. This is the authentic truth to me.

a slow start
Its been a slow starting day today. I am not sure why but both me and the baby are not as awake this day. I plan on getting outside and greeting the cool air but we must get dressed and going before we complete the rest.
But, my thoughts are excited for this weekend! We are going on a cruise. I've never been and I am so excited. Maybe that is the problem today? I am wanting to be on that ship so badly that I can't do anything else but be excited?!
Soon enough the time will come.
I just got a second wind, writing this post was a good idea! We're off to the farmer's market! There is nothing like picking a few fresh items to start your day. Maybe they'll have pumpkins this time...
**update** It ended up being a great day. I saw friends instead of looking for pumpkins and that was much more fun. We strolled around our neighborhood because it was just a beautiful day!

A blog about Iceland
I just wanted to mention that our Icelandic friend (she's so funny, sweet, amazingly artistic, wonderful, fun and gorgeous) has a blog all about Iceland? You should definitely check it out!

closet orgainization
This weekend was great! I had a list of things I wanted to do and checked off most of it. I'll share a few of my projects in the coming days. But for now, I wanted to show a few of my favorite clothing items I found in my closet. I did some reorganizing and took pictures of all my clothes and shoes. I have a little project in mind for the photos.
After the whole project was done and the clothes were put away, I realized that while I have lots of clothes, my husband still has more and he has more shoes, too. I'm so glad I took the time to go through my closet. I have tons of outfits in mind and I am so excited to wear them.

Happy Birthdate, Love!
* I celebrate the birth "date" each month of my husband Zack(4) and my little O Baby(1). Since I generally don't share too much about them on this blog, this is a chance to show them off each month. I find a favorite picture from the precious month, some simple words, and that's it.

they are home
My family is home.
There is something about when your family members are gone, away from home. There is an unmistakable absence that looms in the air. I've felt this for the last 4 days. I am so happy they are back, more happy than I thought I would be.
They didn't sleep at all on their redeye flight. And I'm sad a bit that I don't get to enjoy them yet, Zack tiredly having to leave quickly for work, and Odin, not even waking up to notice his mama was holding him. He was just too tired. Now, I have no idea what to do because I just want to see them, play with and talk to them. Soon...
Ah, that feeling is gone though, that eery absence I feared I could get too comfortable with is gone. My boys are home, my family is together again, my home is full once more.

travel wallet
My boys are coming back tomorrow. Before they do, I wanted to post this little thing I made for Odin to play with on the plane. Its actually my wallet this I use everyday. I emptied it out filled the pockets and pouches with pictures of me (of course ;-) and of him and of Zack. I included a little foam thing he likes to shew on and put down his shirt, and a flashlight that he'll find in the coin zipper part. I think he'll stay busy with that for a while. I had a ton of fun making it and it made me miss him even before he was gone. I can't wait to see my boys!

Happy Birthdate!
I'm missing my boy while he's away with his dad.
He's getting so big, so smart, so affectionate.
He loves walking around the park and he loves dogs, still.
My favorite thing lately is that he thinks everything is funny.
I think that is just the beginning of the "kid sillies". Soon everything will be funny.
My boy is growing up, and I love him more each day.
