sunday skirts

I found this dress at Goodwill on my latest adventure there.  I was worried about how the faded black and yellow would look with my complexion but I think it worked.  I paired it with a simple black cardigan and my new black flats, threw on some red lips stick and my outfit was made!

On the way home, we got a little carried away with the pictures, as most always we do, and I had to mark my baby with my kisses.  That was really fun!  He seemed to think so too.

You've gotta love a good Sunday afternoon photo shoot!

sunday skirts :: dress refashion

I am really happy to have this new skirt.  I refashioned it from a dress I had for a long time but only wore once.  I searched all over the place for some thick elastic and was so happy that I found some on Amazon.com.  Now, all I have to do is figure out what else to use my 9 yards of thick black elastic for.  This was such an easy refashion, especially for me, a beginner!

This project is part of my 29 things before I turn 30 list.
Click here to see all of the projects and other posts related to
the list.  All items listed are a wide array of personal challenges.
I look forward to bettering myself this, my 29th year of life!

Sunday Skirts

I loved this outfit, like, a lot.  This was my first outfit back from cold, windy Iceland (more on that to come.)  I've never stopped liking or wearing long skirts, they're just cool.  I tend to lean toward darker colors but this number totally worked for me, all light and bright and summery.

* Man!  I can't wait to have my "girlish" figure back again...   (more on that to come!)

* I am aware that this isn't some high fashion outfit.  But just remember that this kind of post is not to show off my style or amazing fashion sense.  Its simple to document outfits I liked as to not waste time next Sunday.

// now, on to refashioning that dress...

easter sunday :: dress refashion

*  A beautiful holiday that also, for me, represents the death of Winter and the new life of Spring.
*  I am wearing a skirt I made out of a $6 dress.  This is officially my first (of many, I hope) refashioning endeavors.  One down many to go.

//  I love my little Easter family.

Sunday Skirts

We were away camping and recovering this weekend.  So, for today's Sunday Skirts I'm sharing 2 links for tutorials that I'll be using SOON for my Sew Many Things list.  Maybe you can whip up some skirts before I do.

For me:

Sunday Skirts

Listen, this post and any other Sunday Skirts posts is going to be because:

.1.  i want to have a visual log of Sunday outfit options.  (it will save me a lot of time come Sunday mornings)
.2.  i want to have a visual log of my physical appearance.  (hoping that I'll look better over time...)
.3.  i want to showcase skirts that I have made, refashioned, or that caught my eye somewhere.
.4.  because skirts are in my top 2 favorite clothing items.

So, for the first Sunday, here are two.

* a taste of Tartan style (more to come)

* here I'm making the best of a now too big shirt I got when I first had my baby.  Its big and baggy now but it works here. And this skirt, I haven't worn for months... I'm so glad it fits again!
