Happy Anniversary Date, Love.
* We actually already celebrated yesterday since Zack has to work late tonight. We went for lunch at a mexican food truck and I got this humongous burrito that was so yummy but way too spicy/hot and made me a bit sick. Regardless, this place came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was a happy rainy date together and we loved every second.
Then we went out again after work and tried to get into a 21+ steak house with our toddler in tow. They took one look at us and we were on our way elsewhere. :-) But we did go to another recommended Mexican food restaurant. This place I liked much better than the food truck. I finally found a delicious just-like-grandma's bowl of pozole. The secret, I decided, is lots of oregano and lime. I will go back often for that! I am sure Odin won't complain since he ate chips and salsa the entire time.
I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD! even if I did wake up in the middle of the night from stomach pains so severe I thought I was in labor... I ate too much spicy food, that is for sure! I feel better now and wouldn't you know, all I can think about is that pozole. Ha! It was a very love-ly anniversary date celebration.

our Anniversary date
Every 26th of the month we like to celebrate our wedding anniversary date. We usually go out to eat or take a walk somewhere together. Its never a big deal but it is always special. We really like celebrating a little each 26th.
This month we got to have lunch together and then spent the entire evening together, even if it was at the mall. Everyone should celebrate their anniversary date! Even if you get to bring your kids along like we do. Its still sweet to walk hand in hand and tell each other 'happy anniversary date'.

a little remembering
We spent our evening yesterday at the 9.11 memorial in lower Manhattan. We got tickets weeks ago and have been looking forward to it since. (See the bottom of the post for how to get tickets to the 9/11 memorial last minute if they are not available from the 9/11 Memorial, website.) It was definitely no disappointment. It was beautiful despite all the construction. Maybe it is just me but I felt a reverence there I imagine because it is a burial ground of so many. We were really glad we went. It was a nice little family outing.
// If you want to visit the 9/11 memorial you have to get tickets in advance. Its better to get them weeks even months in advance. There is no stand-by line or anything like it. However, there is another way to get tickets if you don't have them. If you didn't get tickets to the 9/11 Memorial Site, you can still get them the day of your visit at the 9/11 Memorial Preview site at 20 Vesey St. (between Church Street and Broadway). They start handing out a limited amount at 9AM so you'll want to get there early. I don't know how many they hand out, so get there early!

our Anniversary Date
image from our visit to the Vermont Country Store, Rockingham, VT
If this bridge doesn't scream love, I don't know what else does. I mean, we actually parked the car, still running, and blocked the road (no traffic) just to get out and take kissing picture. Perfectly appropriate for this anniversary date, don't you think? I like kissing spots. Have you seen those Kiss and Ride signs at some train stations? I love them! Love is a good thing and I am really enjoying celebrating these monthly anniversary dates.
* Every month on our Wedding Anniversary Date we like to celebrate. We try to do something or go somewhere extra special together. Love is awesome and I believe it should be celebrated. Here's to many happy Anniversary Dates!

our Anniversary date
We didn't do anything special on this date this month. We were packing up and leaving the ctiy. NYC, as you have heard by now, was victim to Hurricane Irene. We weren't hit hard. Since we didn't know what to expect, we were happy to be off of the island of Manhattan in case of long term effects. We were happy that we were safe in doors on this month's Anniversary Date. I am sure we will celebrate this week still.

3 Years!
Today is our Anniversary!
3 years.
3 years and 1 child!
I am a very lucky girl, you have no idea.
Happy Anniversary to my Love.
* These little love notes above were written by Zack. When the baby and I returned home after a little vacation, Zack had already left for a short business trip. He left these around the house (the middle one, for the baby, was in his crib and I didn't see it before I put him on it to sleep) for us to find when we got home.

A Saturday Date
Since our anniversary is coming up (tomorrow!), I wanted to go on, not one date, but two. Our babysitter arrived promptly at 10AM. She's sat for us before so we were quickly out the door. For memory's sake, I want to mention that I had every second planned because this was actually our FIRST time going anywhere with out the baby since he was born. Needless to say, I was really excited and wanted to get the most out of this date.
Thankfully my plans were and always are flexible in the end. Instead of finding a place to grab a drink and a chocolate croissant, we hit up this street fair. We got some little noise/music maker shaker things for the baby and I almost bought a hat. I couldn't help but remember our 1st anniversary when we wandered around the flea market in Hawaii at the stadium. We didn't spend too much time because we wanted to get to the theater (and we were melting).
We made our way along 57th St towards 5th Ave. We had to go to a smaller theater for the movie. It was right across the street from the Plaza Hotel and Central Park. I was so very excited to see the movie, to be in a theater again, and to not have to rush home afterwards. (I'll share about the movie tonight.)
We had a free ticket, which was awesome, and then they gave us both free books! This was a cheap-dater's dream. The theater was really nice and with carpet floors! That is unheard of in NYC. We felt pretty special. We were probably the youngest in the theater, which made me feel old, but all in all it was a really good experience. I mean, there were no comments (read: shout outs) or boos or cell phones or people walking in late like you'll find at most other theater in NYC. You could say it was a pretty high-class experience.
After we made a stop at Lee's Art Shop on 57th St. (the most overpriced place I've ever been,) we were again, hot and now hungry. We tried out a place we always walk by but have never been, Brooklyn Diner. There is not much good to say other than the milkshake was yummy and they had bottled Rootbeer - Zack's favorite.
All in all, it was fantastic to be away together without the baby. It was a great teaser for tomorrow's date. Oh, how awesome is this!? Zack is taking the day off tomorrow! I am so happy that we'll have him the whole day.
// I hope for good weather tomorrow. I just went shopping and bought a little summer dress to wear on our actual Anniversary Date! I am so excited.

anniversary date
every month on the 26th I always get giddy because it is our anniversary date. so, I wanted to start a tradition of going out together on the 26th of each month. This will be something special to look forward to each month. I like a good schedule and this is one more thing on my ever-developing one.
* while I was really looking forward to going to one of my favorite restaurants, in the end, we decided to enjoy the beautiful weather and hit up The High Line. Can you believe we haven't been there yet?! We dined on hoagies and milkshakes we picked up at Chelsea Market all while enjoying the last rays of today's sun. After some playing in the water we called it a day.
* there really is nothing like being outside with your family. I long for a yard but if I can't have that yet, I'll settle for a city park that isn't crawling with everyone in the neighborhood and their dogs at all hours of the day. one day... one day...
I love Zack!
